Panorama looking south from Clingman's Dome in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Clingmans Dome is the highest point in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park at an elevation of 6643 feet. On a clear day it is possible to see approximately 100 miles from the summit. Viewing to the south, it is possible to make out the Tuckasegee River near the point where it forms Fontana Lake.
The road to Clingmans Dome from Highway 441 is 7 miles in length and is closed between December and March. (1/50 sec at f/11)
