Winter Reflections on Lake Rabun
Lake Rabun, Georgia after a winter storm. -
Lake Rabun is the third lake in a 6 lake chain in north Georgia. The dam making the lake (Mathis Dam) was completed in 1915, but the lake itself was not formed until 1925 due to a tunnel being between the lake and the power generator at Tallulah Falls.
The lake has 26 miles of shoreline and covers 836 acres. It is the second largest lake in the chain, with only Lake Burton being larger.
