Pink Lady's Slipper
Pink lady's slipper is a large, showy wildflower belonging to the orchid family with a range encompassing the eastern half of the United States. It is generally magenta to pink in color, rarely white. This plant grows 6 to 15 inches tall and flowers generally between May and July. It's habitat ranges from confiferous forests to well-drained acidic soils in deciduous forests. (1/30 sec at f/2.8, ISO 50)
