Rivers and Streams
Snowy River
The place known as the Metcalf Bottoms Picnic area has a long and deep history. Of course the Walker sisters and their nearby cabin are relatively well known, but not as much is heard about the family that owned and settled this area, the Metcalfs. At one time they owned many acres in what is now the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.
The area where the parking lot, picnic tables, and the restroom are now had cornfields, a small store catering to the local population. (1.0 sec at f/16, ISO 50)
